Stairway to Heaven
Walking the Christian life can be a lot like walking up a staircase.
Firstly, it sometimes seems an uphill struggle.
We have to exercise our legs of faith. The truth is, if God wanted, he could build us an elevator, but he wants us to grow, strengthening our faith as we go.
No-one said being a Christian would be easy, and sometimes we really will need to hold on to the banisters of scripture and prayer, and at other times we may run up it, but always at the risk of falling.
Secondly, we can't keep going straight ahead.
As we grow as Christians we must change from our old ways, and this is again a staircase. We can't keep walking straight ahead or we find ourselves walking away from God.
Sometimes we must walk a gentle curve, learning more about God's ways, and sometimes we may have to take a sharp turn to get back on track.
The flatter our staircase, the longer we have to walk to get closer to God.
Whatever our walk involves
We can all be sure that God will be with us to help us. He chose each one of us to be Christians, and he loves you, his creation enough to die for you, so you can be sure that God will be looking after you, whatever the time of day or night.
