The Music GroupWelcome, this is the page devoted to the music group.Who is the music group? The music group is a band of musicians and singers, that lead the worship in around half of the Sunday morning services.Everyone is invited to join the music group, it is not an exclusive club; just turn up and you're in! Here is a snazzy photo showing just some of our band.
How is it done?I get lots of e-mails asking how the music group actually works, so I'll give just a few details.Any members of the group which are available meet most weeks on a Wednesday night, where we run through the songs which we have been asked to play in coming weeks. The practice usually lasts about 2-2½ hours, and we combine it with drinking tea and eating biscuits. The evenings are very relaxed, and apart from anything else, serves as a chance for us to have a chat with each other. What equipment/instruments do you use?The group has 2 guitar players, Paul and Alex, and a bass player, Syd. Paul uses a washburn acoustic, and Alex uses a Yamaha APX-5A in normal services and a Schecter 006 in youth services. Usually these are put straight through the mixer into the P.A. but additional amplification is supplied by either a Marshall AVT 275 or AC50. Paul uses rotosound strings and Alex uses Gibsons.Syd plays an Encore bass through a bass amp, not into the mixer. Sometimes a clarinet player joins us, which is put through a vocal mic into the mixer, with adjusted levels. We have no drums! A different set of instruments is used in the youth services, see the dedicated page here. Guitars/Vocals are put a Behringer mixer. Technical advice/services provided by audio design. You are hereby advised from utilising a Spirit Notepad. You have been warned! More InformationFor more information, e-mail Alex on: alex@hayfieldstmatts.org.uk |
